This article offers four tips for female leaders as distinct from male leaders.

Though, I don’t know where I sit on the debate of a special leadership focus for women, I agree with the contents of the list.

  • Seek out mentors and advocates. Successful women are shown to have had help from above.
  • Take risks, accept challenges. “Research shows that women who have stayed in one area of expertise too long or who have too-narrow a functional orientation are not viewed as promotable, so be willing to change jobs and take on special projects to gain experience.”
  • Be decisive, demand results. Be unwilling to take unpopular stances.
  • Be confident.  Avoid undermining your position with a lack of confidence.
